Udupi, May 15: The producer of the controversial Kannada film Katari Veera Surasundarangi , Muniratna, said here on Monday that the film would be released again on Friday (May 18) after editing some scenes and dialogues considered objectionable to Hindu activists.

Mr. Muniratna and actor of the film, Upendra, met Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami of Shiroor Mutt and held consultations over the release of the film.

The Shiroor seer and activists belonging to the Bajrang Dal had stopped the screening of the film at the Gitanjali cinema here in Udupi on May 12, protesting against some scenes and dialogues, which they said were objectionable to Hindu religion. There were protests against the film in other parts of the State also.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr. Muniratna said at the meeting with the Shiroor seer held on Monday, it was decided to remove the objectionable content. The film would do well after the necessary editing was done, he added. Mr. Upendra recalled his 15-year-long association with the Shiroor seer. He had visited the seer during his last Paryaya in 1994-95 and the seer had blessed him. This had helped his film Om become a box office success. All differences with regard to Katari Veera Surasundarangi were resolved, he said. With the blessings of Lord Krishna and the seer, this film too would be successful.

Mr. Upendra pointed out the difficulties involved in producing a 3D film. Mr. Muniratna had not only produced the film in 3D, but many theatre owners had cooperated by making requisite changes to screen the 3D film in their theatres.

The Shiroor Math seer said that Mr. Upendra had offered 'Tappu Kanike' (money offered to seek forgiveness) to Lord Krishna and Lord Hanuman at the 'Kanakana Kindi' at Sri Krishna Math for the objectionable scenes in the film.

“Let this film be successful. I too will try to see the film,” he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 22: Monday's only pending II PU exam (English) and SSLC exams scheduled to start on March 27 have been postponed due to Covid-19 concerns. The new dates will be announced in April first week.

The decision was taken after a meeting with chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday morning, said state primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar.

Around 8.25 lakh students are to appear for the Class 10 exam.

"I appeal to SSLC students not to get frustrated. I know you're fully prepared, fully geared up. But this is a peculiar situation which calls for hard decisions. The new timetable will be published very soon. Students should treat is as an extended study leave. Please revise more. Do not treat this as a relaxation time. You'll have plenty of time to relax after the exams," he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: Jyotiraditya Scindia has not betrayed the Congress, but he has been betrayed by the Congress and Kamal Nath, said on Wednesday Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs who are camping here after tendering the resignations.

"It is not Jyotraditya Scindia who has betrayed. Instead, he has been betrayed by the Congress and Kamal Nath. Despite the fact that it was his hard work that enabled Congress to form the government in MP after 15 years, yet he was being sidelined. His people were sidelined," Mahendra Singh Sisodia was heard saying in a video.

Taking a veiled jibe at Chief Minister Nath, Sisodia said: "On one hand, you claim that treasury is empty and on the other, works worth Rs 12,000 crore is done in Chhindwara constituency. Are the rest of MLAs and ministers just killing time?"

He also warned other Congress MLAs that the party would be decimated in the state in the future.

"Did not the Congress trick people in MP? What happened to the farm loan waiver announced? When we go to our region, people ask us what happened to loan-waiver.
What happened to curb corruption, Vyapam? Whichever party Scindia joins, we will go with him," he said.

Former MP Minister Imarti Devi said that all 22 MLAs are in Bengaluru out of their own choice.

"All 22 MLAs are here (in Bengaluru) on their own will. We are happy Scindiaji has taken this decision. I will always stay with him even if I had to jump in a well. Kamal Nathji never heard us," she said.

Another leader dismissed talks of being in touch with anyone and said that they are happy with the decision of Scindia, who joined the BJP earlier today. He had resigned from the Congress on Tuesday.
