Mijar, May 17: Bollywood celebrity Sohail Khan on Thursday offered pooja at Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, here, on Sunday and sought the blessings of the deity.

He was here to inaugurate the 'Halli Cricket' organized under the auspices of the Temple.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, the multi-talented cine-personality opined that the future of the sports in the country lies in the villages.

“The cities hardly have any space for children to play and we have to resort to playing in the streets. Moreover the city kids are spoilt by lifestyle technology and addicted to TV, Mobile, Internet etc,” lamented the brother of Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan.

The talent that is being groomed in the villages through events like Halli cricket tournament will give a great boost to sporting in the future, he added.

“Actually I am a keen cricketer myself and I must say this soft ball under arm format is much more difficult than the regular cricket format. This game is very fast and you have to be extremely sharp and alert. I must say these boys are going a great job, playing this game,” he said.

Khan also recalled his previous visit to the Temple in May 2010 and said the main attraction for him to pay a return visit to this region was the beautiful greenery of Dakshina Kannada and the delicious local food. He especially liked the 'country chicken sukka' that he relished last time, he said.
