Veterinary doctor robbed in Manipal

Manipal, May 29: A veterinary doctor was robbed of his chain, money, and a car at Herga coming under Manipal police station limits.

According to the Manipal police, Jayaprakash Shetty, a veterinary doctor, was asked by his acquaintance Rohan to visit Udupi.

Dr. Shetty came to Manipal with Rohan and another person Rajesh at 8.30 p.m. on May 27 and checked into a lodge at Herga on Manipal-Parkala Road.

When Mr. Shetty got up at 5 a.m. on Monday, he found that his gold chain, money in wallet, and his car were missing.

11 injured as bus ferrying wedding party topples

Uppinangady, Feb 16: Eleven people were injured, when a private bus in which they were travelling, toppled near Kodikal on Sunday, police said.

According to Police, more than 20 people were travelling in the bus towards Puttur from Sakleshpur when the mishap took place.

All the inmates were on their way to attend a wedding.

Irked by Hegde remarks against Gandhi, BJP asks him to take 'remedial' measures

New Delhi, Feb 3: BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde's swipe at Mahatma Gandhi has irked the top party leadership and he may be forced to apologise, party sources said on Monday.

A senior BJP leader said the Karnataka leader's comments were "condemnable" and the party leadership is upset with him.

"The party has conveyed its displeasure to him and asked him to take remedial measure. Any insult to Mahatma Gandhi is unacceptable," he said.

Hegde, a former Union minister, reportedly claimed at an event in Bangaluru that the entire freedom movement was staged with the consent and support of the British, and the independence movement led by Gandhi was a "drama".

He also wondered why the Father of the Nation was called 'Mahatma' (a great soul).

The party leader said the Lok Sabha MP is a "disciplined" member of the party and will do what he has been asked to.

Hegde, known for hardline Hindutva leanings, has a history of making controversial remarks.

Therefore they will listen only to dire action what they deserve per the penal code. If required put him behind bars.

Paper factory receives bomb hoax call in Karnataka

Mysuru, Feb 29: Tension prevailed at Tandavaput Industrial Area in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru when a paper factory received a bomb threat call, which later turned out to be a hoax call.

The police said that the authorities of Rajshil Papers received a bomb threat call in the morning. After getting the information, the bomb detection squad rushed to the spot and inspected the factory premises and declared that it was a hoax call.

According to the police, an unidentified person called from his mobile, which is now switched off.
