Mangalore, June 2: A day after former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy extended invitation to disgruntled Congress leader Siddaramaiah if he wants to re-join the JD(S), incumbent Chief Minister D V Sadanada Gowda on Saturday said that BJP too would welcome the backward class leader if he wanted to join saffron party.

Replying to the queries of media persons after landing at Mary Hill helipad in the city, the CM opined that Congress was not a suitable place for a man like Siddaramaiah.

However he clarified that the BJP leadership would collectively decide on welcoming any leader from other party to the saffron outfit.

The CM statement comes despite the fact that Siddaramaiah has made it amply clear that he is not quitting the Congress and has merely quit as leader of the Congress Legislature Party and his post as leader of the opposition in the Karnataka state assembly.

Asked about the fresh judgement of Lokayukta Special court which on convicted Y Sampangi, BJP MLA from KGF in a bribery case, Mr Gowda said, "As far as information that I have, the MLA intends to go in appeal against the verdict to a higher court"

Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, MLA Krishna J Palemar, BJP DK district president Padmanabha Kottari and Coastal Development Authority Chairman Nagaraj Shetty were also present.
