He was 52. A speeding Maruti Swift car had knocked him down when he was on his motorcycle along with his grandson.
He was seriously injured in the accident and had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangalore. He breathed his last on Saturday as efforts to revive him failed, said hospital sources.
Palliyabba was working in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and had returned to his native on vacation last month. He was scheduled to fly back on May 31.
He is survived by wife Rasheeda, who is the gram panchayat president of Harekala, seven daughters and a son. Mangalore MLA U.T. Khader, businessman Anwar Hussan, Ullal Dargah Committee chairman Hamza, councilor Rashid Ullal and several others visited his home and consoled the bereaved.
