Mangalore, June 9: The formal inauguration programme of Vikas Pre University College will be held at Town Hall, Mangalore, on June 11, informed Dr D Sripathi Rao, Correspondent of the College.

Addressing media persons at a press meet on Saturday, Mr. Rao said that four batches with 60 students in each classroom will function after the college is inaugurated. PCMB and PCMC streams will be available for science students, he said.

Coaching will also be given to students after 5pm as part of a tie-up with Expert Coaching centre, Mangalore, he added.

Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte University will inaugurate the programme.

Krishna J Palemar, MLA, Gopal Hosur, IGP (intelligence), Vice-Chancellor, Dr S C Sharma, Tumkur University, Dr Kaveriappa, Former Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University, Prof Narendra L Nayak, President, Expert Educational and Charitable Institutions, are among the guests scheduled to take part in the event.

C M Ibrahim seeks Karnataka govt nod for mass Eid-ul-Fitr prayers

Bengaluru, May 14: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Former Union Minister and Congress Karnataka MLC, C M Ibrahim has, in a letter to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, sought permission for the Muslim community to congregate at Idgah grounds and mosques to offer namaz together on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr later this month.

"The Id-ul-Fitr festival in the state may be celebrated on the 24th or 25th May 2020, during which Muslims have to offer special prayers. On behalf of the entire community. I would suggest that the Government may take a decision by having due consultation with medical experts to grant permission for Muslims on the day of Id to offer prayers in the Idgah maidans or masjids from morning till 1 pm with all precautionary measures and safety norms," the letter states.

"In this regard. I request you to kindly look into the matter and after consulting the medical experts, take a suitable decision enabling Muslims all over the state to offer ld prayers at ldgah Maidans or Masjids in their respective localities," the letter added.

As part of its COVID-19 guidelines, the Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier directed states and Union territories to prevent social gatherings and religious congregations and ensure lockdown measures were strictly followed.

If Mr. Yediyurappa gives permission as reqested by Ibrahim, it will be adisastor for Muslims community, Saudi Arabia imposed , full curfew from 23rd to 30th May, 2020, this is to avoid Eid gathering and spread of Corona Virus, our community should boycott such so called self declared leader.

Any new cases of Covid-19 cases will be blamed as Eid Jihad, request all our like minded people to protest this request.

CM Ibrahim is just trying to attract media and public atttention. he is a useless politician.

Who is he? What is he? And what did he do to Muslim community and who gave him the authorization to talk to the minister of behalf of Muslim Community

It will be disastrous for PR, and Joy ride for Atunab & sudir...

This Chadi people will be very happy and start calling this Eid Jeehad...

BJP fields Eranna Kadadi, Ashok Gasti from Karnataka for Rajya Sabha polls

Bengaluru, Jun 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday fielded Eranna Kadadi and Ashok Gasti as it's candidates for the June 19 Rajya Sabha elections from Karnataka, ignoring the recommendations of the state BJP unit.

The state unit had recommended the names of Prabhakar Kore, Ramesh Katti and Prakash Shetty.

The names of the two candidates were announced in a party statement in Delhi.

The election is scheduled on June 19 to fill four Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka, represented by Rajeev Gowda and BK Hariprasad of Congress, Prabhakar Kore of BJP and D Kupendra Reddy of JD(S) that will fall vacant on June 25, with their retirement.

June 9 is the last date for filing nominations. Party sources said both Kadadi and Gasti come from an RSS background.

Kadadi hails from Belagavi, while Gasti is a resident of Raichur.

The 54-year-old Eranna Kadadi started his active political career in 1989 and unsuccessfully contested the assembly election from Arambhavi constituency in 1994 on a BJP ticket.

He had also served as the Belagavi district Panchayat president in 2010.

Ashok Gasti is a lawyer by profession and former general secretary of the BJP's OBC Cell.

He is the former chairperson of the Backward Class Development Corporation.

Death toll in northeast Delhi violence rises to 20

New Delhi, Feb 26: The death toll in northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law rose to 20 on Wednesday, according to GTB Hospital authorities.

On Tuesday, the death toll was 13.

"The death toll has risen to 20 today," Medical Superintendent of GTB Hospital, Sunil Kumar, told PTI.

Earlier, at least four bodies were brought to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, a senior official said.
