Rave party: M'lore youth arrested, released on bail

Ankola, June 10: Ankola police on Saturday night arrested 14 persons who were part of an alleged rave party at Honey beach resort, located at Honnebail village of the taluk.

Uttara Kannada police said that Ankola police raided the resort at 11.30 pm and found four semi-nude women dancing to the tunes of the English music. Eight others who were present there had been throwing currency notes at the dancing women. Other two persons, who had organized the party were also arrested.

Police said Raja Kumar Shetty, Sandeep Shetty, Sachin Shetty, Areef Inayatullah, Yashwant Pujari, Harish Shetty and Madhu Venkappa Shetty, all residents of Mangalore were busy partying when police raided the resort. Police have withheld the name of the women who were also arrested. Police also arrested Venkataraman Nayak and Harish Nayak organizers of the party. Police seized Rs 1.23 lakh, 10 mobile phones and the sound systems from the place of offence. All arrested persons were released on the bail.

This incident has again highlighted that Karwar may be emerging as the hub for the distribution of the drugs to the Goa, Gokarna and Honnebail beaches where the rave parties are being allegedly organized on a regular basis. Sources said narcotic substances are being brought to Karwar from Himachal Pradesh, Uttra Pradesh and Bihar. It may be recalled that a few months back, police had arrested a woman from Himachal Pradesh at Karwar railway station in possession of ganja worth Rs 90 lakhs. Her companion hailing from HP escaped.

Police sources said that investigation is on to find out whether the drugs were being distributed in the party, reacting to an allegation by locals that narcotics were in use at the party.

Belagavi, Apr 30: Police Sub-Inspector attached to Sadalaga Police Station Anil Kumbar was suspended on Wednesday pending inquiry for negligence and misbehavior in Examba incident, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said.

According to him, the PSI was suspended as he misbehaved with Sachin Sawant a Centeral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Cobra Commando on April 23 at his native village Yakshamba village and arrested him on charges of not wearing mask. On scuffle with the constable the commando was handcuffed and chained at Sadalaga police station.

Sachin Sawant was sent to Hindlaga Jail by the Court and was released on conditional bail on Tuesday.

Mudigre, May 23: The throat swab sample of a Primary Health Care doctor at Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru district tested negative for COVID-19. 

It was wrongly tested positive for COVID-19 on May 19, clarified DC Dr Bagadi Gautham. 

The doctor's throat swab was tested again in Shivamogga and Hassan labs where it has tested negative. He will be discharged from hospital, said the DC.

All the 28 contacts of the doctor too tested negative. 

A total of 485 primary contacts and 961 secondary contacts of the doctor were quarantined after the throat swab of the doctor was tested positive. All the contacts who have been quarantined will be sent back home from quarantine centres, added DC.

Bengaluru, July 13: The results of the recently concluded II PUC examinations in Karnataka will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14, at 11:30 am.

The results, according to Primary and Secondary Education minister S Suresh Kumar, will be sent in the form of SMS-es to the registered mobile numbers of the students by 11:30 am.

Over 6.5 lakh students had appeared for the II PUC exams. 

Even though examinations for most of the subjects was completed in March, students had to wait close to three months, due to nationwide lockdown, to appear for the last exam -- for English -- which was held on 18th June.
