Inauguration of Da'wah College to mark Sayyid Madani College anniversary

Mangalore, June 12: The 42and anniversary and 33rd convocation ceremony of Sayyid Madani Arabic College will be held on Thursday, June 14 on the premises of Ullal Dargah, near here.

This was announced at a press meet here on Tuesday by U S Hamza, President of Ullal Jumma Masjid and Sayyid Madani Dargah.

As part of the event a massive burda majlis will be conducted on the preceding night, he said.

On Thursday the programme will commence at 9:00 am with the inauguration of Sayyid Madani Hifzul Quran course and Da'wah College.

In Hifzul Quran, free education and food will be provided along with residential facilities for students who have completed class V in madrasas, said Mr Hamza.

The students who have completed SSLC can apply for Da'wah College which will impart impart both religious and material education, he added.

At 10:00 am Basheer Faizi Vennikkod, principal, MDS Vennikkod, will inaugurate a group discussion session of Madanis.

At 1:00 pm a grand vehicle rally will be conducted from pumpwell to programme venue. The convocation ceremony will be inaugurated by Ullal Qazi Abdul Rahman Kunchi Koyal alias Tajul Ulema at 2:30 pm. Dozens of Sunni sect leaders from Karnataka and Kerala are expected to participate in the event.

New Delhi, Jun 5: Congress has named Mallikarjun Kharge as its candidate for ensuing biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Party interim president Sonia Gandhi approved Kharge's candidature on Friday, according to a Congress release by general secretary Mukul Wasnik.

The elections to fill the pending 18 Rajya Sabha seats from seven states will be held on June 19.

Mangaluru, Mar 27: In the wake of mounting number of coronavirus positive cases in Dakshina Kannada and surrounding areas, the government has decided to fully shut down the coastal district on Saturday, March 28.

Announcing this today, district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary urged the people not to step out their homes at any cost for any reason as nothing would be available outside except the deadly coronavirus.

All grocery stores, food outlets and markets also are likely to remain closed. For last few days grocery shops remained open till noon. 

Dakshina Kannada today reported two fresh cases of Covid-19. So far the district witnessed seven positive cases and none of them are fully cured. Shockingly neighboring district of Kasargod today reported 34 new coronavirus positive cases on a single day.

Bengalur, May 15: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan on Friday said that stern action will be taken against the persons responsible for organising the village temple fair in Ramanagara district.

"Stern action will be taken against the person responsible for organising the festival. This should not have happened," the Deputy CM said.

Flouting all social distancing norms, people had gathered in large numbers for a temple fair in Kolagondanahalli village of Ramanagara. People were even not wearing masks.

They had taken permission for gathering from Panchayat Development Officer NC Kalmatt.

Kalmatt has been suspended by Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner following a report by the Tehsildar.

Meanwhile, 45 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Karnataka, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,032 on Friday, according to the state Health Department.
