Udupi: Pre-counselling guidance camp for CET students on June 16

Udupi, June 12: A pre-counselling guidance camp for CET students will be held on Saturday, June 16 at MET School on Udyavara-Korangarapady Road here.

The Udupi taluk unit of Jamiyyatul Falah in association with MET Public School and Career Guidance and Information Centre will be organising this camp which will commence at 2:30 p.m.

Information relating to medical, dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Yoga and Naturopathy and engineering courses would be given at the camp.

The participants would also be informed about online counselling method, documents required for registration, seat selection process and other related matters stated a press release issued here.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: One person was arrested on charges of murdering a middle-aged couple on Wednesday in Yellinje near Kinnigoli.

The area falls under the jurisdiction of Mulky police.

Police said that the deceased were identified as Vincent D’Souza (50) and his wife Helina D’ Souza (45).

The arrested was identified as Alphonso (55). He will be sent to judicial custody, said police.

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 24: Dakshina Kannada reported 12 new coronavirus positive cases where as neighbouring Udupi district reported 14 new cases today. Dakshina Kannada also reported a covid related death. 

Among the 12 cases in DK, 8 are males and 4 females. Four among them had recently come from Sharjah. One is suffering from severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and seven with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms.

In Udupi, there were two children among 14 people who tested positive today. There are 8 males and 6 females. Nine are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Bengaluru, three have contracted infection from P-3851, and the source of infection of one more patient is being traced.

Mangaluru, May 2:  Fishermen in the coastal districts fear that the fishing season ending on May 31 every year might be rescheduled early this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement department of fisheries on sturday said fishing season is closed for 61 days every year before the arrival of the monsoon.

As per the data with the Fisheries Department, this year the number of fishes caught has set a record.
