Now, 'PR card' to be the ownership document

Mangalore, June 16: As part of the implementation of the Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR), ownership documents will now be in the form of Property Cards (PR cards).


Addressing media persons at a press meet held at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Mangalore on Saturday, V Ponnuraj, Deputy Commissioner, Shimoga, and N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly briefed media persons about the new project taken by the Department of Survey Settlement and Land Records (SSLR).


The pilot project will be implemented as per the provisions of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act and Rules in five towns i.e. Mangalore, Bellary, Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad and Shimoga in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode.


Why PR card?


PR cards are being introduced since there are no title documents for urban properties resulting in 'Khata' being considered as a title document. RTC cannot handle vertical growth as it is only for the land and not multiple properties on land. For converted land, RTCs will be stopped in the future.


PR card would be made mandatory for all transactions and conversion sketches would be done through UPOR in the future.


The PR card boasts of highly accurate data, on map and ownership. Each property would be identified by coordinates. It would be a piece of evidence of property ownership for all regulatory and legal purposes. The property buyers would know the genuineness of ownership and whether there are any mortgages besides restrictions by the government, court orders passed and other info on the property. To the sellers it would be less cumbersome. The bankers would be able to ascertain existing mortgages if any, court disputes, updated ownership information and they can could do away with legal opinions too.

Bengaluru Jul 29: There will be a centralised system in place in Karnataka to classify asymptomatic, symptomatic and mild symptomatic persons and recommend treatment based on the severity of the cases, said Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday here.

"Various existing apps related to COVID-19 will be brought under one platform to get real-time information which will assist in strategising allocation of hospitals/beds to the needy. This will probably remove the delay in bed allocation and treatment which is being faced now. The patients will get all information in one phone call," Dr Sudhakar said.

Sudhakar spoke with a team of experts from the government and Infosys.

Referring to a company by name Step 1, which is providing such services in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, the Minister said that a similar system will be implemented in the state as well.

"This company is having a team of doctors and nurses which is guiding the people whether they need hospital treatment or home isolation after they are tested positive for COVID-19. More than 70 per cent of the positive cases are being asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and are advised to go for home isolation," the minister said.

"The load on the hospitals is reduced and severe cases can be administered proper treatment. Infosys co-ordinates with the government to provide technical support for this system," Dr Sudhakar added.

Earlier during the day, the minister held a video conference with the heads of private medical colleges to review COVID preparedness.
The government has already passed guidelines to allocate 50 per cent of hospital beds for COVID patients.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A BJP MLA in Dakshina Kannada has tested positive for covid-19.

Dr Bharat Shetty, who represents Mangaluru North Assembly constituency, took to Twitter to confirm the news.

“I have been tested covid-19 positive. With all your blessings, I'm recovering and will be under treatment for few days,” he tweeted. 

He also requested the people to maintain social distancing, wear masks while going out and wash hands frequently.

Mangaluru, Mar 10: Four airports which are run by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), including Mangaluru International airport, have been adjudged among the best aerodromes in the world, winning 10 awards in four different categories at the 2019 ASQ awards.

ASQ is a globally established programme that measures passengers’ satisfaction while traveling through an airport. Airports Council International (ACI), which is an independent agency of airport operators, carries out international benchmarking of aerodromes.

“Four AAI airports — Chandigarh, Mangaluru, Trivandrum and Lucknow — have been adjudged the best in the world in recently announced 2019 ASQ awards. These airports won 10 awards in four categories,” Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a release here on Tuesday.

The survey measures passengers’ satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators that include eight major categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment and arrival services.

The four categories in which these airports bagged the best airport awards were size and region, environment and ambiance, customer service and infrastructure and facilitation, as per the AAI.

The survey was carried out at across 356 airports across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The survey results are monitored by airport tariff regulator AERA, NITI Aayog, and civil aviation Ministry, the release added.
