Udupi, June 27: Former Union minister and Congress veteran B Janardhana Poojary has said that fate of BJP led Karnataka government was in the hands of tainted former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Replying to queries of media persons at a media conference here Wednesday, Mr Poojary opined that Yeddyurappa would not allow State BJP chief K S Eshwarappa to succeed D V Sadananda Gowda as the new chief minister of Karnataka.

“Eshwarappa has humiliated Yeddyurappa through his statements. Hence Yeddyurappa cannot tolerate Eshwarappa becoming the CM. Yeddyurappa has learnt a lesson after he made Sadananda Gowda his successor”, he said.

Law Minister Unfit

Mr Poojary reiterated that mere a report by an advocate general cannot be considered as a clean chit to tainted law minister Suresh Kumar, who is accused of grabbing house site under the G Category.

He questioned how could an advocate general working under a law minister play the role of a judge and go on to the extent of giving clean chit to a tainted BJP leader.

He also said that it is shameful on the part of Suresh Kumar to consider the controversial report as a clean chit. “His act has proved that he doesn't have fundamental knowledge about law and legal process and hence he is unfit to continue as a law minister”, Mr Poojary said and demanded his resignation.

The Congress stalwart also demanded a CBI inquiry in to the entire episode as Suresh Kumar was not legally acquitted of the charges. “It is proved beyond reasonable doubt that government would suppress the evidence pertaining to the case as the CM himself given a clean chit to the minister, prior to an investigation”, he said.

Bengaluru, May 22: Amid the fourth phase of nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, inter-state travel from Karnataka is now permitted with the consent of the receiving state, informed Praveen Sood, Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General (IG).

"Inter-state pass is not required to go out of Karnataka as long as you have the consent of the receiving state," he said.

The order follows MHA's recent announcement of relaxed guidelines amid the nationwide lockdown.

"Due to lockdown, migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons are stranded at different places. They would be allowed to move as under," read the new guidelines while asking states to designate nodal authorities to facilitate the interstate movement.

The Centre has extended the lockdown till May 31 across the country.
