Public urged to take precautions as 10 persons diagnosed with H1N1

Kasargod, June 29: As many as 10 people have been diagnosed with H1N1 fever in Kasargod district.

District Health Officer has advised the people across the district to take necessary precautions to prevent the outbreak of flu.

The people who have caught the flu are from Badhiyadka, Kodom Bolour, Madikeri, Chengal, Kumble Gram Panchayats and Kanhanged Town Municipal.

The fever is being spread due to a virus. Cough, joint ache, shivering, body ache, head ache, fatigue are the symptoms of the fever. Some people may also have vomiting and diarrhea.

If one comes in contact with the person who has fever and thereafter does not wash his hands and touch his mouth or nose may get the fever, he said.

The doctors advise the patients with such symptoms to take treatment in their homes and take sufficient rest. The patients should intake sufficient quantity of water.

Some people who have the fever may have respiratory problems. Such patients should meet the doctor immediately. The patients should avoid contact with their family members as the chances of them catching the flu are high.

Whenever the patients feel like coughing, they have to close their mouth with handkerchief or tissue paper. The patients should not spit in public places, said the DHO.

A Screening camp has been organized in Kasargod's General Hospital and Kanhangad District Hospital to identify H1N1 patients.

The medications are available in all primary health centers and government hospitals, said the DHO.

Last year five were diagnosed with H1N1. However, no one has died here due to the fever.

Bengaluru, Mar 29: Escoms have been directed neither to penalise its customers nor go for disconnection if one fails to pay the bill. The relief is applicable till June. However, the entire bill will have to be paid at the end of three months.

The revised power tariff, which was to be announced on April 1, has also been deferred.

A similar three-month relief has been given on rentals for APMC and BBMP shops.

Mangaluru, Apr 26: City Police Commissioner P S Harsha on Sunday said that the news about the implementation of seal down in some wards of Mangaluru city is fake and urged the public not to pay any heed to it.

Taking to twitter, Mr Harsha wrote, ''Some miscreants are floating some old speculative…TV news reports of seal down in some wards of Mangaluru city. It’s fake news.....Don’t Heed to fake news.''

Mangaluru, May 2:  Fishermen in the coastal districts fear that the fishing season ending on May 31 every year might be rescheduled early this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement department of fisheries on sturday said fishing season is closed for 61 days every year before the arrival of the monsoon.

As per the data with the Fisheries Department, this year the number of fishes caught has set a record.
