Siddharamaiah to participate in anti-BJP awareness programme in city

Mangalore, July 3: The Congress party will hold a public awareness programme against the maladministration of the BJP led state government at Town Hall in Mangalore on July 7, said B Ramanath Rai, MLA and President, Dakshina Kannada district Congress.

Speaking to media persons in Mangalore on Tuesday, Mr. Rai said that the state is currently in a crisis with no government control. The BJP government is in ventilator mode and awareness about its maladministration will be created in the scheduled programme, he said.

Siddharamaiah, Leader of Opposition, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, will participate in the event, Mr. Rai informed.

On a query on cross voting, Mr. Rai said that the party is carrying out an inquiry and action would be taken against those found guilty.

Abhaychandra Jain, MLA, Gulzar Banu, Mayor, MCC, Shashidhar Hegde, Former Mayor, Ivan D'Silva and other Congress leaders were present.

New Delhi, Feb 20: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the non-bailable warrants issued against the state Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the Karnataka High Court.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde stayed the non-bailable warrants while hearing a plea filed by the Karnataka government.

Earlier today, the apex court had agreed to hear the matter today itself after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the matter before it.

Tushar Mehta had pointed that Home Secretary has been asked by the High Court to execute the non-bailable warrants and said that this order is "unusual".

Karnataka High Court had earlier issued non-bailable warrants against the top cops in a case.

Wayanad, April 7: The Kerala government has allowed people from border villages of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to use medical facilities at Wayanad.

"We have opened our borders to people from neighbouring states who require medical facilities in Kerala. Twenty-nine people from Bairakuppa in Karnataka have used medical facilities in Wayanad and 44 from Tamil Nadu," Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday.

Bairakuppa, a small village in Karnataka, is separated by the river Kabini from Wayanad district and the residents there depend on the healthcare facilities available in Wayanad.

Speaking to news agency, Adeela Abdulla, District Collector of Wayanad, said that instructions have been issued to allow people from neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, who need medical facilities, to cross the border.

"Right from the start of the lockdown, we have not restricted individuals from Bairakuppa region in Mysore district to use the medical facilities in Wayanad as people in that region depend on medical facilities in Wayanad," she said.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A middle aged man who was battling health issues due to kidney-related ailments, breathed his last at a private hospital.

He was tested positive for coronavirus.

The deceased was a 49-year-old resident of Kalladka in Bantwal.

According to sources, the man, was getting treated for tuberculosis and liver-related ailments, he was at home since 20 days.

On June 27 he was admitted to the private hospital in the city due to kidney related ailment.

With this, the total number of death of covid patients in the district reached to 18.
