Mangalore, July 5: The department of Political Science of St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore, will be organising one day seminar on 'the topic 'Sixty Years of Karnataka Legislative Assembly', on Saturday, July 7.

D H Shankar Moorthy, Chairman Karnataka Legislative Council would inaugurate the Seminar.Suresh Kumar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Law, Urban Development, Government of Karnataka, would deliver the keynote address. Dr. M. Prem D' Souza A.C., Principal St. Agnes College, Mangalore would preside over the function.

Dr Prem D'Souza said that being the women's college, St Agnes would honour the women MLAs of undivided Dakshina Kannada will be honored along with Mangalore MLA U T Khadar, who has been conferred an award for highest no. of queries in the current 'Vidhana Sabha'

Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MLC, Government of Karnataka will speak on 'Vidhana Sabha-the Temple of Democracy'. There will be a panel Discussion on 'People's Expectations from Vidhana Sabha'. V R Sudarshan, Former Chairman Legislative Council, Karnataka, will speak on the topic 'Outstanding Parliamentarians of Karantaka Vidhana Sabha' in the afternoon session.

Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly will preside over the valedictory. Valedictory Address will be delivered by Siddharamiah, Leader of Opposition, Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Sr. Supriya A.C Vice Principal, will be the guest of honour.

Mangaluru, Feb 23: Karnataka Minister for Fisheries and Religious Endowment Kota Shrinivas Poojari on Sunday said that there will be no shortage of water during the summer season in Dakshina Kannada district as per a review done by the district administration and the Panchayati Raj Department.

He said that periodic review will be conducted and based on that appropriate decisions will be taken.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, February 23, Poojari said that the main source of water for Mangaluru, the Thumbe vented dam, has a steady inflow of water.

Udupi, Apr 17: The city police on Friday caught a boy who created chaos near Aadi Udupi by throwing fake currency notes on road and fled afterwards.

This boy had thrown fake currency notes on the streets of Vadiraja Nagara near Krishna Mutt.

Few localities had collected the notes and reported this to police.

Mangaluru, May 4: An engineering student has claimed to have received 600 threat calls in the past few days from unidentified people for starting fish business during the lockdown in Kavoor. 

According to Sakshath Shetty, resident of Kavoor, he started receiving threat calls from various people after he started selling fish during the lockdown. 

Police said they have been able to identify some of the numbers from where the threat calls were made and investigation is under way.
