Karnataka Bank re-appoints Jayarama Bhat as MD and CEO

Mangalore, July 12: P Jayaram Bhat has been re-appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Karnataka Bank for another three years.

The RBI has conveyed its approval for re-appointment of P Jayarama Bhat as the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank for further period of three years with effect from July 14, 2012, as proposed by Bank's Board of Directors.

Under his dynamic leadership, over the last three years, the bank registered an all round progress. There was significant increase in bank's business to reach a new high of Rs 54,488 crore as on June 30, 2012 from Rs 32,004 crore as on June 30, 2009.

The capital fund of the Bank has touched Rs 2,600 crore mark at the end of March 2012 and the Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at 12.84 per cent.

The number of branches of the Bank rose to 504 from 447 three years back. Number of ATMs has shown a more than 100 per cent growth from 177 ATMs in 2009 to 382 as of now.

More number of ATMs are being opened to increase convenience to all the customers across India. Customer base of the Bank has surpassed 60 lakhs. While continuing its consistent dividend payment tradition, the Bank has proposed a dividend of 35 per cent for the year 2011-12.

Bhat is also a Member of Managing Committee of Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the Honorary President of the Banker's Club, Mangalore. He is also Chairman of Private Sector Banks Association.

During these years, Karnataka Bank has earned Best Bank Award by IDBRT for 'Managing IT Risk' under Small Bank Category.

Bengaluru, Jul 17: Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar held a meeting through video conference on Thursday with private and government establishments involved in testing and treatment of COVID-19 in the state.

A total of 51,422 cases including 19,729 recoveries and 1,032 deaths were reported in the state till yesterday.

On the same day, K Sudhakar also paid a surprise visit to the Bengaluru's CV Raman Hospital and urged the administration to follow COVID-19 guidelines properly. He also took stock of the hospital's preparedness to fight the deadly virus.

"Surprise visits will continue. I will be in touch with every lab and get the right number of tests done on a daily basis," the minister said while speaking to the media.

He also urged the people who have recovered from coronavirus to donate their plasma to save other lives, adding that donors will receive a reward of Rs 5,000 as a token of appreciation.

Bengaluru, Aug 9: karnataka's Health Minister B Sriramulu has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has been hospitalised and is being treated for Covid-19. The minister has also asked all of those who came in contact with him recently to take necessary precautions.

Sriramulu made the announcement in a series of tweets on Sunday. He said, “After symptoms of flu, I have tested positive for coronavirus today.”

“Under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister (BS Yediyurappa), all the departments of the government, including my department, have been working hard against Covid-19. From the time of corona's appearance, I have had the opportunity to visit 30 districts and work in harmony with the government's desire to treat people well. It is in this backdrop that I am going to be hospitalized and treated,” B Sriramulu said.

Karnataka’s Health Minister also added, “All those who have been in contact with me recently have been requested to take precautionary measures.”

Earlier this month, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa also tested positive for Covid-19. The state's Leader of Opposition and former CM Siddaramaiah of the Congress also declared that his samples too had returned positive for the infection. Both of the leaders are undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the privately-owned Manipal hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Karnataka has 79,773 active cases while a total of 89,238 patients have been discharged in the state after recovering from Covid-19 and 3091 have succumbed to it.

Bengaluru, Mar 25: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday targetted Centre over surge in coronavirus cases in the country, alleging that the government has miserably failed in tackling the unprecedented situation and was still not managing the crisis well.
"The government has miserably failed in tackling this very serious disease. They are not properly managing the crisis," senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah told ANI.
Siddaramaiah's response comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that "social distancing" is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
In a televised address to the nation, Prime Minister Modi said that it is vital to break the chain of the disease and experts have said that at least 21 days are needed for it.
The Prime Minister said the lockdown has drawn a "Lakshman Rekha" in every home and people should stay indoors for their own protection and for that of their families.
Noting that the Centre has on Tuesday allocated Rs 15,000 crore for the treatment of coronavirus patients and to strengthen health infrastructure, he said testing facilities, personal protective equipment, isolation beds, ICU beds, ventilators and other necessary materials will be ramped up.
The Prime Minister said the country will have to bear the economic cost of lockdown but saving the life of every citizen is his priority and the priority of the Central and state governments as also of local administrations.
Noting that the virus spreads like fire, he said that if care is not taken for 21 days, the country, a family can go behind by 21 years.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has reported about 536 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases. A total of 22,694 samples from March 24 till 8 pm.
Ten people have died so far due to the deadly virus, according to the data by Union health ministry.
