MCC remove illegal hoardings, banners city

Mangalore, July 13: The Mangalore City Corporation carried out a drive to remove all the illegal hoardings, cut outs and banners at Airport road on Thursday.

The illegal hoardings were removed from the roads between Yeyyadi and Mary Hill. As many as six hoardings that are put up in gross violation of civic sense and also the civic law were removed.

A team of MCC officials comprising of Joint Commissioner K. Srikanth Rao and Assistant Revenue Officer Praveen Chandra Karkera carried out the drive. The drive will be extended to other parts of the city too.

In a press release MCC Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar has warned strict action against those who were putting up banners atop buildings and on the electric poles. He has also warned of action against those who put up posters on compound walls.

He said in spite of the repeated warning, those who put the hoardings illegally have failed to remove it. Many a times, organisations and agencies are involved in sticking the handouts on either side of the road and on electric poles, thus disfiguring the roadside and electric pole. He said that a notice will be issued to all those who had erected hoardings illegally in the city and a case will be filed under Prevention of Disfigurement Act. The removal of illegal hoardings, banners will be a continuous drive, he added.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 26: The Kerala Police on Wednesday arrested a man who had threatened people protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi on social media.

"The person was arrested by Agali police in Palakkad district for trying to instigate communal violence," the Police said.

On Tuesday, Kerala DGP Lokanath Behera had said that strict action will be taken against those who try to create any communal divide.

"Action will be taken against those who create or forward such messages that create communal tension through social media. All messages on social media are under police surveillance," he said.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) was reprimanded for withholding information, sought by a candidate regarding an examination held in 2005 for Gazeted Probationary posts, by the State Information Commissioner here on Thursday.

According to official sources, the State Information Commissioner NP Ramesh, while disposing off a petition by the candidate, who had written an examination conducted by the KPSC for the gazeted probationary posts held in 2005, had directed to provide the information sought by the candidate, free of costs within ten days.

The State Information Commissioner in his order had termed the conduct of the KPSC as against the spirit of transparency among the public authorities.

Mysuru, Aug 1: A young covid-19 warrior and activist has become the latest victim of novel coronavirus in Karnataka’s Mysuru district. 

The deceased is Khaleel ur Rahman (27), who was the office manager at Farooqia College of Pharmacy. 

During Covid-19 lockdown, he was working as a volunteer and was part of Mysuru City Corporation team also which is involved in the covid related work. 

Khaleel was also part of the team formed by IAS officer P Manivannan, who led the crucial Covid-19 relief efforts across Karnataka. He was also an activist of Social Democratic Party of India.

During the lockdown, he was distributing groceries and other necessary things among poor and migrants in Mysuru. 

Recently he fell ill and admitted to a private hospital. He was suffering from breathing difficulties. He breathed his last in the hospital without responding to any treatment.
