'Swabhimani Sriramulu to reach out to Coastal Karnataka through Sankalpa Yatre'

Mangalore, July 17: Sandalwood heart-throb Rakshita has announced that BSR Congress Party would hold 'Swabhimani Sankalpa Yatre', campaign rally from Karwar to Ramnagar, between July 29 and August 5.

Addressing a media conference in the city on Tuesday the actress-cum-politician, said that the eight-day long rally would cover 1,300 kms to meet people in Coastal Karnataka, Malnad and Bayaluseeme regions.

“Our leader B Sriramulu will try to understand the problems faced by the people of the region during the Yatre. The main aim of the Yatre is equality and integrated development of Karnataka,” she said the short-haired beauty, who is closely associated with the Bellary strongman since March 2012.

As part of the Yatre, the Party will hold series of conventions, wherein Sriramulu will address the gathering, she said.

“On the inaugural day of Yatre a mega convention will be held at Karwar. The very next day another convention will be held in Shimoga. In Hassan and Chikmagalur similar convention will be held on July 31. In the coastal cities of Udupi and Mangalore the conventions will be held on August 1 and August 2 respectively. The next day it will be in Madikeri. On August 4, it will be in Mysore and Chamarajanagar. And on the last day of the Yatre two convention will be held in Mandya and Ramanagar”, she said.

Predicting a glorious future for BSR Congress Party in the state, she said that the newly formed party would hold booth-level membership campaigns in twin coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, which are strong bases of BJP and Congress.

Belagavi, Apr 30: Police Sub-Inspector attached to Sadalaga Police Station Anil Kumbar was suspended on Wednesday pending inquiry for negligence and misbehavior in Examba incident, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said.

According to him, the PSI was suspended as he misbehaved with Sachin Sawant a Centeral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Cobra Commando on April 23 at his native village Yakshamba village and arrested him on charges of not wearing mask. On scuffle with the constable the commando was handcuffed and chained at Sadalaga police station.

Sachin Sawant was sent to Hindlaga Jail by the Court and was released on conditional bail on Tuesday.

Bengaluru, Apr 2: A health worker, who was part of a team fighting against the Coronavirus disease in the city, was allegedly attacked by a mob and duped of her belongings at the Sadiq Layout in the Shivajinagar area on Thursday.

According to police sources, the health worker came under attack by a mob of youths when she was collecting data from those who were sick in the locality.

Bangalore, Feb 1: Following the Directions from department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka, to set up Isolation ward for the admission and treatment of the Novel Coronavirus infected patients, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore has allocated 5 isolation beds, 4 at its Bannergatta unit and 1 at Cunningham Road Unit.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, Dr A Nagasubramaniam, Medical Director, Fortis BG unit said, “We are following the guidelines and protocols as suggested by Department of Health and family welfare and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases in line with WHO guidelines for managing any suspected case. We will accordingly notify the health authorities.”

The management has been educating the hospital staff members, visitors and patients about the virus and the precautionary measures on a timely basis. A health advisory on Coronavirus has also been put up at the lobby and the canteen to educate the patient attenders, nurses and staff members, the statement added.
