Mangalore, July 21: After languishing 21 days in various jails, 38 persons arrested in connection with incident of rioting that took place at Kalladka, some 30-kms from here on June 30 were granted bail on Friday by the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court at Bantwal.
However, as the certified copy of the order will be available only on Saturday, 14 persons lodged in Madikeri jail and 24 lodged in Udupi jail can expect to be released on Saturday, said Ashwani Kumar Rai, advocate representing eight of those who were arrested.
The delay in bail was because of the judge attending a week-long training session in Bangalore, and a conference of public prosecutors that saw the bail hearing date being deferred.
