Rampa' to hit silver screens in August

Mangalore, July 23: The Tulu comedy moive 'Rampa' is all set to hit the silver screens in mid-August, according to actress-cum-producer Namratha Hegde.

Speaking about her film at Patrika Bhavan in the city on Monday, the talented multi-lingual actress said that 'Rampa' is due to release in the third week of August this year and is supposed to be a true comedy to get the Tulu audiences.

The film is directed by Rajan Lyallpuri and produced by Ms Hegde's own 'Namratha Hegde Productions', starring Sadashiv Amprapurkar, Arvind Bolar, Ajathashatru besides Ms Hegde herself.

Explaining about the plot of the movie, she said this quaint comical story with a message is set in Mangalore and will have the masses rolling with laughter with veteran actor Arvind Bolar's comic timings and tug at their heart strings at the same time with Rampa's sagely advice.

The music of the film was composed by Iqbal Darbar. After a series of Bollywood hits he has now composed songs for his first Tulu film sung by Nithin Acharya, winner of the Voice of Bangalore contest held in Bangalore.

Actors Ajatha Shathru, Arvind Bolar and Tamma Laxman were present.

Bengaluru, Aug 4 : Without mentioning any party leader's name, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar on Monday appealed to Congress workers not to make any "defamatory statement" against any political leader on social media platforms.

Taking to Twitter, Shivakumar wrote, "I appeal to Congress workers not to make defamatory statements against any political leader, on matters of health and other issues on social media platforms. It is not in our culture to wish bad for others. Congress is a party that exemplifies brotherhood and humanity."

His statement comes days after Rajya Sabha MP and AICC in-charge for Gujarat, Rajiv Satav comment where he suggested that introspection in the party should begin from the time of the United Progressive Alliance -II government.

Later, Satav took to Twitter to clarify his remarks at Thursday's meeting of the party's Upper House MPs. Satav, through a series of tweets on Saturday, said he was not comfortable discussing what goes on inside party meetings in forums outside.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: The Karnataka government on Wednesday identified 14 departments as essential and asked all its employees to attend work during the extended period of lockdown to check coronavirus spread in the state.

According to a circular issued by Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar, all classes of officials/employees in these departments must attend to their work.

The departments are: Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education, Home, Revenue, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Urban Development, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Information and Public Relations, Transport, Energy, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e-Governance), Finance (including treasuries), Animal Husbandry and Fisheries and Forest, Ecology and Environment.

In all other departments, only Group-A officers have been directed to report for duty.

However, those visually-impaired or physically-

handicapped are exempt from work, the circular said, adding that this norms will be valid till April 19.

Tumuku, Jul 6: Senior Congress leader and Kunigal MLA Dr H D Ranganathm tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The 48-year-old Congress legislature, a doctor by himself, was admitted to Manipal hospital and recovering, he said in a tweet.

Dr Ranganath said he took all precautions, yet could not save himself from the virus and advice people to not to take the contagion lightly.
