Mangalore, July 26: Vallerian D'Souza, popularly known by his pen-name Vally Vogga, a resident of Mysore, has been chosen for the 'Konkani Kutam Award — 2012', a press release said.
The award was instituted by Konkani Kutam Bahrain, a voluntary forum formed exclusively to promote Konkani language, literature and culture, in 2002 to support Konkani writers and artists. It includes a citation, a memento and a purse of Rs. 50,000.
Mr. Vogga has been selected for the award in recognition of his contribution to the cause of Konkani language and literature. It will be presented here on Saturday.
Mr. Vogga has been writing in Konkani for the last 40 years. He has 125 short stories, 201 poems and five novels to his credit apart from over 50 articles.
