Mangalore, July 30: People hailing from Malnad region are very fortunate since they relish the beauty of nature, enjoy very pleasant climate, pollution free atmosphere and environmental conditions”, opined Mangalore, MLA U T Khadar.

He was delivering the inaugural address on the 'Malnad Youth Association Annual Day and Blood Donation Camp' held on Sunday at Athena Hospital Auditorium, Mangalore.

Malnad is well known for religious, social, educational activities and the people follow traditional culture and are very friendly in nature and trustworthy and they are peace loving people. Their contribution to the development of community is exemplary, he added.

Rotary Dist Governor and Eminent Physician Rtn. Dr. B. Devdas Rai speaking as a chief guest said that the youth should be geared up to acquire leadership qualities and accept responsibility in the society which enhances their personal development. He also launched their association's new website and released their new logo and congratulated the new team of office bearers.

Indian Red Cross Society D.K. Unit member Mr. Nagesh Kumar lauded the member's participation in the voluntary blood donation camp organized on this occasion for the noble cause. About 100 members donated blood during the camp.

Mr. Jayaram, a social reformer from Sakleshpur graced the occasion as guest of honour and delivered the felicitation address. Chairman of the association Mr. Sudish announced the proposed future activities of the association for the benefit of the community. President Mr. Rushikesh welcomed the gathering. Joint Secretary Ms. Shwetha Kamath proposed the vote of thanks.

Bengaluru, May 27: Mebina Michael, who contested in Pyate Hudgir Halli Life season 4, is killed in a road accident on Tuesday. The incident occurred on National Highway 75 at 4.30 pm in Devanahalli in Nagamangala taluk, Mandya district.

As per the reports, Mubiena along with two others were travelling to Somavarpet from Bengaluru. Their car collided with a tractor, which was taking a U-turn, they were immediately rushed to the Adichunchanagiri Medical College hospital.

Later, the injured were shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment and Mebina died on the way, while the two are are battling for lives with serious injuries. A case has been filed at Bellur police station.

Bengaluru, Mar 15: Karnataka government has said that as of now six cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state, including one person who died.

"Till date six COVID-19 cases have been reported in the state including one death. The 5 Coronavirus positive cases are in isolation at the designated hospital in Bengaluru," the Karnataka government said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Health Department of Karnataka on Sunday said that all the family members and other contacts of the 76-year-old man who died of coronavirus in Kalaburagi are being monitored closely.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that India's tally in the number of positive cases for coronavirus has reached 107 on Sunday.

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 24: Dakshina Kannada reported 12 new coronavirus positive cases where as neighbouring Udupi district reported 14 new cases today. Dakshina Kannada also reported a covid related death. 

Among the 12 cases in DK, 8 are males and 4 females. Four among them had recently come from Sharjah. One is suffering from severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and seven with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms.

In Udupi, there were two children among 14 people who tested positive today. There are 8 males and 6 females. Nine are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Bengaluru, three have contracted infection from P-3851, and the source of infection of one more patient is being traced.
