Mangalore, August 2: No local politicians have contacted the BSR Congress with a wish to join the party, Sriramulu, MLA and BSR Congress Chief said.
Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of his 'Swabhimani Sankalpa Yatre' programme in Mangalore on Thursday, Mr. Sriramulu said that no local politicians had contacted him and neither had the party contacted local politicians.
It can be recalled that B Nagaraj Shetty, former minister and BJP man, had revealed in a press conference held after he quit BJP that he had received invitation to join the party by Mr.Sriramulu.
Responding to a query about the party's ability to win majority seats in elections and its likely role of acting as the kingmaker, Mr. Sriramulu said that at the moment the party is focused on emerging as the single major party in the polls. The party will give a thought about joining hands with other regional parties if such circumstances prop up in the future, he said.
When asked about his mates Suresh Babu and the likes still being in the BJP, Mr. Sriramulu said that the constitutional set up provides for MPs and MLAs of other parties to be in his favour. The recent Presidential election is an example for it, he said.
The Bellary strongman refused to comment on his name being mentioned in the illegal mining issue, stating that the matter is in court.
