Mangalore, August 6: Mangalore City police have arrested two more persons in connection with the assault on Rahim Uchil, president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy.
The arrested have been identified as Abdul Basheer, 27, son of Late Mohammed from Surathkal and Hameed alias Saddam, 21, son of Aboobakar from Kodikal.
Police said that the duo was absconding since many days they were arrested on Saturday in the city. With this the total number of arrests in this case has gone up to four.
On March 15, miscreants made an attempt on Rahim Uchil's life at the Academy's office in Attavar. Rahim was in hospital for nearly two months following the incident and resumed his duties as president of the city-based academy recently.
Police had earlier arrested Umar Farooq alias Munna Farooq alias Shan, 20, son Moideen Kunhi from Halekote Ullal and Abdul Saleem, 33, son of Abdul Khader from Bunder, Mangalore.
Another main accused Muhammad Rafique alias Appi, 28, son of U P Moosan from Ullal, had evaded arrested by securing bail.
