Udupi, August 10: The renovated Udupi Jami'a Masjid was inaugurated by Philanthropist Hidayatulla Abbas of Uchila.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the talented youths must come forward to build community-needed hospitals, schools and colleges.

He said that the members of community should utilise Wakf lands. In future, Islamic Development would invest in Wakf board which will be fruitful for the society.

Abdul Riyaz Khan, State Wakf Chairman said “If we make full use of Wakf facilities, it's possible to establish Islamic banks, besides providing free education for all Muslim students,” he advised.

Udupi Jami'a Masjid Imam Moulana Muhyuddin Jeelani delivered 'Juma Khuthba'.

Jamath-e-Islami Hind Dharwad District Convener Saleem Umari said that when Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) built 'Masjidunnabavi' it had all the services such as hospital, food, training, financial, education etc.

Sanaulla Umari, Maseeulla Qasmi also spoke on the occasion.

Moula compered the programme. Committee president T S Budan Pasha delivered introductory speech. Secretary Kamruddin proposed vote of a thanks.

Imran Hidayathullah, K S Muhammad Masood, Muhammad Kunhi, Abdullah and others were present on the occasion.

Kalaburagi, Mar 3: Former Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday in a letter requested Karnataka Assembly Speaker Sri Vishveshvaraya Hegade Kageri that the restricted media coverage in Assembly Budget session was not the right thing and it will be danger of for healthy democracy.

The letter written by Mr. Kharge to the Karnataka Assembly speaker which available to the press said that the fourth pillar of democracy 'Media' ban from covering assembly proceedings was not a healthy move and requested to immediately withdraw the government order in this regards, he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 4: A total of five people suspected of being infected with Coronavirus have been admitted to the isolation wards of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases in Bengaluru.

Samples of these patients have been collected and their reports are likely to be received later today.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has assured people in state about preparedness to tackle Coronavirus.

Earlier in the day, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had said that there were 28 cases of Coronavirus in the country and added that universal screening of all international flights will begin to control the spread of the deadly virus.

Global deaths due to Coronavirus outbreak have risen above 3,000.

Bengaluru, Jan 6: Activist Irom Chanu Sharmila took part in a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) at Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall here on Sunday.

Sharmila, who came in the protest along with her child, took part in a 'burqa and bindi' protest marking the birth anniversary of social reformer Savitribai Phule.

Protests have erupted across the country over the CAA which grants citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, and Christian refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
