C T Ravi sounds pessimistic about BJP coming back to power

ctraviMangalore, August 15: Signs of lack of confidence of victory in the upcoming Assembly polls in the BJP camp came to the fore on Wednesday when C T Ravi, district in charge minister for Dakshina Kannada, spoke to media persons at the sidelines of the Independence Day programme held in the city.


Responding to a query on BJP heading into the last phase of its five year term in power in the state, Mr.Ravi showed signs of lack of confidence of victory in the polls and a successive term as the ruling party in the state.


“There is no dearth of dreams. We can sow as many seeds of dreams in the soil of this land as we want. But we cannot say we will be the ones who will reap the harvest for sure”, he said.


Hailing the country's democratic set up, Mr. Ravi said on the occasion that he is fortunate to have got a chance to hoist the national flag in his capacity as the district in charge minister. “I used to visit this ground in my younger days to listen to the speeches of leaders like Vajpayee and the like. Never had I thought that one day I would be hoisting the national flag here and deliver a speech myself. It is the system of democracy of our country, that has enabled an ordinary man like me to get this opportunity”, he said.

Gokak, Jul 25: A JMFC magistrate here issued summons to the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa in relation to a complaint for the alleged violation of election code of conduct, during by-elections to the Gokak Assembly seat held last year.

According to official sources, a complaint had been registered against Chief minister B S Yediyurappa during the election campaign, under the People Representative Act, for allegedly wooing voters during electioneering.

The Gokak Police, who had investigated the case, however had submitted a 'B' report to the court letting off the Chief minister from the charges.

However the Magistrate, rejecting the Police report, had maintained that there exists prima facie case against the accused and issued summons to appear before the court on September one, the sources added.

Bengaluru, Mar 2: The Karnataka Department of Public Instruction has directed the School heads across the State to grant leave to students and staff suffering from fever, cold, cough and other respiratory infections.

As precautionary measure following the COVID-19 (known as coronavirus) outbreak at the global level, the department issued a circular in this regard here on Monday.

If any student, teacher or staff is suffering from respiratory infections, they should be granted leave. They should be allowed to come back to school only after confirming from the doctor that they are cured, the circular added.

Shivamogga, Jun 20: Shivamogga District unit of Congress led by party veteran Kagodu Thimmappa staged a protest against state government's proposal to amend the land reform act, which will allow non-agriculturist to buy farmland.

The leaders of Farmers' Union (Raith Sangh) also staged a protest at Mahaveer circle and questioned CM's stand as he took oath in the name of farmers.

The district congress staged a protest at the premise of the Deputy Commissioner office in Shivamogga city.

The protesters termed Karnataka Government led by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa as an anti-farmers government.

According to Congress and Raith Sang, the proposed amendments to Karnataka State Land reforms act 1961 will cause harm to farmers.

"According to the proposed amendment, non-agriculturists like business tycoons can also purchase the agriculture land. This will help the businessman and will be harmful to farmers," protesters said.
