Mangalore, August 23: In the wake of rat fever outbreak, Health Minister Aravinda Limbavali visited private hospitals in the city on Wednesday evening and took stock of measures taken to prevent the spread of leptospirosis.
Two brothers from Bantwal taluk had died recently due the rat fever. In another case family sources of an Ayourveda doctor who breathed his last on Tuesday said that he died of leptospirosis. However medical report did not confirm whether he died of rat fever.
District Health and Family Welfare Office denied that two more in Sullia taluk had died of rat fever. A report on Nagaraj from Parivarakana is still pending.
DHO Dr O R Srirangappa said that he visited houses in Sullia and suggested precautionary measures for residents.
