Special issue on New Mangalore port released

Mangalore, August 27: A Special Issue on NMPT by Johnwill Marine Information titled, '3 decades of NMPT service to the Nation' was released by Dr. P. Tamilvanan, Chairman, NMPT, at the NMPT auditorium here on Sunday.

Mr Tamilvanan appreciated the efforts of John, the managing director of Johnwill Marine Information, for publishing an informative issue on the history, growth and the present development activities at the port.

He called on the shipping fraternity to patronize such publications. He assured the publication that the special issue will be circulated widely so that people become aware of the history of NMPT.

Addressing the gathering, T.S.N. Murthy, IRS, Dy. Chairman, NMPT has praised Mr. John for publishing such an informative publication. Other dignitaries like Parameshwaran, IRS, Commissioner of customs, Shekhar Poojary, President of Stevedores Agents Association, Praveen Kumar Bangera, President of Steamer Agents Association also emphasized the hard work of Editor John, in publishing such an informative reference Issue.

Welcoming the gathering by Editor John expressed his gratitude and co-operation from the port management, port users, customs and chamber for bringing out this special issue.

Udupi, May 18: As many as eight fresh coronavirus positive cases have been reported in coastal districts of Udupi and Uttara Kannada. 

No fresh positive case was reported in Dakshina Kannada since yesterday.

According to Health and Family Welfare Department, two men aged 38 and 24 years, an 8-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

All of them were under quarantine after returning from Maharashtra recently. They were shifted to covid-19 hospital for treatment. With this the number of covid-19 positive cases in Udupi district mounted to 15.

Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada district also received a jolt with four more cases. Yesterday it had reported eight cases.

Mangaluru, Jul 23: A nurse who was serving as a frontline COVID warrior at the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and has recently tested positive along with her 7-year-old son has complained to the Deputy Commissioner against the harassment meted out by some miscreants who have been spreading false rumours against her.

Health official said that some people in her area have given false complaints against her to government officials thus inflicting mental torture on her and her family.

In her letter, the nurse has stated that the attitude of the people forcing her to consider quitting the job. "I have served the people by treating my work as worship. Anti-social elements have been torturing me now. I am very much hurt," the she said. 

The nurse’s house at Moodbidri has been sealed after she was tested positive. However, her husband and younger child were tested negative.

Mangaluru, Mar 27: In the wake of mounting number of coronavirus positive cases in Dakshina Kannada and surrounding areas, the government has decided to fully shut down the coastal district on Saturday, March 28.

Announcing this today, district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary urged the people not to step out their homes at any cost for any reason as nothing would be available outside except the deadly coronavirus.

All grocery stores, food outlets and markets also are likely to remain closed. For last few days grocery shops remained open till noon. 

Dakshina Kannada today reported two fresh cases of Covid-19. So far the district witnessed seven positive cases and none of them are fully cured. Shockingly neighboring district of Kasargod today reported 34 new coronavirus positive cases on a single day.
