Corporation Bank launches festival bonanza for various loans schemes

Mangalore, August 30: The city based Corporation Bank has announced a festival bonanza for various loans schemes of the Bank from September 1 for three month period.

The bonanza is offered for home loans, vehicle loans, NRI home loans, Doctor Plus (finance for medical professionals) and Vyapar schemes (loan for trade and business)

Ajai Kumar, chairman and managing director, who launched the festival bonanza here on Wednesday, said the bank is doing so in challenging times and with sole intention of taking its retail business forward. "It is the retail and small and medium enterprise sectors that will ultimately take the bank and country forward," he said adding this would be the thrust of the bank over the next quarter. "This sector will get some focused attention over next three months," he said.

Corp Home housing loan for construction of house/flats or purchase of ready built house/flat or take-over of housing loans from other Banks/institutions will be under the floating rate of interest for all tenor and for amount up to Rs 50 lakh will be offered at 10.50% per annum. For amount up to Rs 1 crore, loan is offered at 10.75% and for amount above Rs 1 crore is offered at 11.00%. The processing charges are fully waived, Ajai Kumar said.

Rate of interest for Corp Vehicle, vehicle loan for a period of five years is offered at 11.25% and for period of seven years at 11.75%. The processing charges are fully waived. Doctors can obtain finance for setting up of clinics/hospitals/pathology labs and purchase of electro medical equipments under Corp Doctor Plus. Any registered medical practitioner, dentist, physiotherapist or firm managed by doctors can apply. Rate of interest is 12.10%.

Under Corp Vyapar - loan for trade and business, traders/businessmen engaged in buying and selling of goods/commodities either on retail or wholesale business are eligible for the loans. The rate of interest for amount up to Rs 20 lakh is offered at 12.50% and for amount above that at 13.50%. For persons taking both Corp Home and Corp Vehicle Loan together will get an additional concession in the rate of interest on vehicle loan by 0.25%, he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: In a preparatory measure to tackle any exigency in the backdrop of spread of coronavirus, the Karnataka government has asked district administrations to use as quarantine centres the residential schools and hostels that come the under Social Welfare department.

"Wherever necessary, these residential schools and hostels can be converted as quarantine facility without any extra cost by the district administrations," Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol said in a statement.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka stood at 55, including two deaths and three discharged persons, as on Thursday.

Karjol, who is also the Minister in-charge of Social Welfare department said, in view of holidays for educational institutions, there were no students staying in the residential schools and hostels and hence they can be used for quarantine purpose.

All the residential schools at hostels in districts and taluks are spacious and have all required facilities like rooms, kitchen, toilets, bathrooms, libraries among others, the Minister said adding most of them were located away from densely populated areas.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: A 75-year-old man who arrived in Kalaburagi from Saudi Arabia on February 29 has been admitted to the isolation ward at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) after he showed symptoms of coronavirus. 

His throat swab has been sent to the laboratory of Bengaluru’s Victoria Hospital. The district Health and Family Welfare Department is waiting for the report. 

The aged man who arrived from Saudi Arabia on February 28, was admitted to a private hospital on March 5 following fever and cough. As he showed the symptoms similar to coronavirus, the health of his family members has also been examined by the doctors and a close watch on them is being kept.

Recently, first confirmed positive case was reported from Whitefield in Bengaluru. The state government had also declared holiday for all primary schools in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, Mar 20: Two COVID-19 positive patients in Karnataka have fully recovered and will be discharged today.

Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said: "Two COVID-19 positive patients have completely recovered and will be discharged tomorrow. They will be kept under home quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure."

The number of COVID-19 positive patients in Karnataka stands at 14 as of today.

"The total number of positive cases of COVID19 in India stands at 173, including 25 foreigners. Four deaths (1 each) have occurred in Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra," said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a statement.

According to official data provided by the Ministry of Health, as many as 15 people infected with the virus have been discharged after receiving treatment.
