Mangalore, August 30: There is a conspiracy behind the arrest of Muthi-ur-Rahman Siddiqui, a journalist who along with eight others has been taken into custody on charges of links with 'Indian Mujahideen' outfit, brother of Mr. Siddiqui, Ata-ur-Rahman has said.
Speaking to Coastaldigest.com from Hubli, Mr. Rahman said that Mr. Siddiqui and his roommates with whom he was staying in Bangalore, were innocent. “It is unclear as to why this arrest has taken place. We are looking for answers and suspect that there is some conspiracy against my brother and the other boys”, he said.
Mr. Rahman said that the news of Mr. Siddiqui's arrest reached him through a friend. “I had spoken to Muthi a couple of days ago and had told him I would be coming to Bangalore. That was the last I spoke to him. I have been trying to call him but his phone is switched off. It was only when his friend called me that I came to know about his arrest”, he said.
In spite of 30-32 hours, family members are unaware of Siddiqui's whereabouts, Mr. Rahman said. “Even now I do not know where exactly he has been taken. All we have managed to find out is that the Crime Branch police have arrested them”, he said.
