Mangalore, August 31: A protest was held by the Dakshina Kannada district-wing of BJP Yuva Morcha in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and investigation of the multi-crore coal mining scam.

The protestors burnt an effigy of Manmohan Singh.

Addressing the gathering, State President of Yuva Morcha Sunil Kumar said that the Rs 1,84,000 crore coal-block allocation scam was the biggest scam in the world. The cost of it is equivalent to two budgets of Karnataka state, he said.

“The scam had already taken place when Manmohan Singh had held the Coal Ministry portfolio from 2006 to 2009. He is the one responsible for the entire scam, and we will not allow him to escape from it easily. He should resign and allow investigation to be done”, he said.

“We are currently undertaking 'Congress Hatao Desh Bachao' campaign, which will be carried out in each taluk in the state. We will continue our struggle till the PM resigns,” he said.

Yuva Morcha State Vice-president Bharat Shetty, District President Kishore Kumar Puttur, District General Secretary Rajesh Shetty Pajeerguthu, BJP District Vice-president Jagadish Adhikari, Mangalore South Unit President of Yuva Morcha Raghavendra Rao and others were present on the occasion.
