Over 15,000 health cards distributed

Udupi, September 2: District unit of Mogaveera Yuva Sanghatane, in association with G Shankar Family Trust and Manipal University, distributed Health Cards to over 15,000 beneficiaries at Shamili auditorium here on Saturday.

Inaugurating the programme DCM KS Eshwarappa said advised the beneficiaries to make the maximum use of the card to ensure good health. He also lauded the charitable activities of G Shanker Family Trust in Udupi district. ``Maintain Healthy food habits, take limited food and practice Yoga for good health'', he advised.

District incharge Minisiter Srinivas Poojary distributed the health cards. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat presided over the function. G Shanker Family trust president G Shankar said that the Trust has set a target of collecting 10,000 units of blood.

Tumkuru, Feb 26: A man was arrested from Azad Nagar area of Anantpur on Wednesday for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed and posting it on social media earlier this month, police said.

He was identified as Atul Kumar alias Madhugiri Modi, a resident of Madhugiri’s Hobali Honnapur village.

According to Superintendent of Police Vamshikrishna teams had been formed to arrest the accused following protests against his video and remarks against Prophet Mohammed in Tumkuru and Madhugiri,

Mangaluru, Jan 31: The Pumpwell flyover, part of the four-laning of Talapady-Kundapura stretch of National Highway 66, was finally inaugurated today.

Work on four-laning NH 66 between Talapady-Kundapur, excluding the Nanthoor-NITK Surathkal stretch, started in September 2010 and Pumpwell (Mahaveera Circle) flyover was a part of the project. Concessionnaire M/s Navayuga Udupi Tollway Pvt., Ltd., failed to execute many flyovers on the stretch within the prescribed time, including Thokkottu and Pumpwell in Mangaluru, Karavali Circle in Udupi, and Shasri Circle in Kundapur.

Thokkottu and Karavali Circle flyovers are complete now while Shastri Circle flyover as well as the four-lane road within Kundapur town are still incomplete. Similarly, a small bridge and portion of the road in Padubidri too is yet to be completed.

MLA Vedavayas Kamath, MLA Bharath Shetty were also present on the occasion.

Udupi, May 21: In a shocking development, as many as 27 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in the coastal district of Udupi today. 

Another shocker is, 16 among 27 covid-19 patients are children. The rest are six men and five women. 

Interestingly, all of them have inter-state travel history. 23 had come from Maharashtra and 3 from Telangana. Another one had come from Kerala to Manipal. More details are awaited.
