Rampa's family wants change in dialogues too: 'Sompa' crew

Mangalore, September 7: After change of movie title, the family of late Ramapa Poojary, popularly known as 'Rampa', is now requesting that the dialogues in the movie also be changed, makers of Tulu film 'Sompa' said.

Speaking at the audio release programme of the movie at Press Club in Mangalore on Friday, Namratha Hegde, actress and co-producer of the movie, said that the family of Mr. Rampa has now requested for a change in the dialogues of the film too. “First it was a change of title which we obliged to. But now they want a change in dialogues too. But we have requested them to watch the movie first as we have not used anything in the movie that could hurt anyone's sentiments”, Ms. Hegde said.

The audio of the movie was released by 77 year old Montho Lobo, the first auto-rickshaw driver of Mangalore and 51 year old Tara Nayak, who has been distributing milk and newspapers to houses from several years. Ms. Hegde said that the film crew chose ordinary people like them to carry out the audio release as people like them hardly get noticed for their work.

Ajatashatru, lead actor in the movie, Tamma Laxmana, Art Director and Geetha Hegde, Producer, was also present.

Mangaluru, May 14: An 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar in Mangaluru, who was undergoing treatment for covid-19, today breathed her last in the hospital.

The victim, identified as P-507, was said to be in critical condition for past few days.

The elderly woman and her 45-year-old son were tested coronavirus positive on April 27 days after she got admitted to First Neuro hospital at Padil in the city.

With this the covid-19 death toll in Dakshina Kannada rose to five. Shockingly, all five victims are women. The district has so far reported 34 positive cases including five deaths. Currently there are only 14 active cases. 15 people have already discharged.

Mangaluru, Feb 2: A video of a woman rescuing a dog from a well in Mangaluru has gone viral on social media. The dog fell inside the well accidentally and the woman rushed to the spot to rescue it. The two minute seven second video has been shared on Twitter by a user, Mauna, and has ever since been viewed over 15,000 times.

The woman climbed down the well as other people attached a rope to her body during the rescue mission. Another rope was then thrown to her and she tied it around the dog after which it was pulled outside. The woman, thereafter, climbed outside the well with much difficulty.

"Bless the lady who saved the Dog," the user captioned the post.

Mangaluru, May 17: A team of staff and students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, have designed and developed a simple and cost-effective touch-less hand sanitiser dispenser kit at Research and Innovation Centre, Nitte.

According to a release here on Sunday, NITTE said that the most effective medicine for Covid-19 is social distancing, frequent use of sanitiser, and washing hands regularly. In work areas, many people sharing common sanitiser might lead to issues.

The developed product dispenses sanitiser upon sensing the presence of the hand. The product has features like automatic hand detection, indication for power, and sanitiser quantity in the system.
