Hajj aspirants get details on sacred pilgrimage

Mangalore, September 8: Around one hundred pilgrims, who will be undertaking Hajj this year, participated in a Hajj training camp organised by the local unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in the city on Saturday.

Dozens of women also took benefit of the event organized at Hidayat Centre on Bibi Alabi Road. The day long programme was inaugurated by Abdussalam Uppinagady, who explained the significance of Hajj.

Moulana Yahya Thangal, Khatheeb of Havva Masjid, Bolangady and Mufthi Abdul Mannan, Khatheeb of Jamiah Masjid, Kudroli explained the participants how to perform Hajj in Beary and Urdu languages respectively.

The experts detailed the various facets associated with the sacred pilgrimage, including wearing the special cloth 'ihram' before entering the city of Makkah, circumambulation of Ka'aba, standing on the ground of Mina, stay at Muzdilfah, and Saee (running or walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah).

There was considerable enthusiasm among the pilgrims who were eager to know about the various facets of Hajj. One of the participant said: "I had been applying for Haj for the last three years, and finally this year, Allah accepted my prayers and my name was selected in the list of the persons who would be going to perform the Hajj. I was informed about the various customs during the training programme.''

Haj is one of the five pillars of Islam and it is mandatory for those Muslims, who could afford the expenses, to perform it once in his life.

Local unit present of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Saeed Ismaeel was present. Yusuf Pakkaladka compered the programme.

During his stay in the house, the actor had the privilege to become the captain of the house twice. He is also the only candidate who has earned 'Kicchana Chappale' (applaud of appraisal) the maximum number of times.

Shine has been in the headlines for his equation with other housemates. His growing friendship with Deepika Das has been creating a lot of buzz ever since the launch of the show. Shine has always shown interest in Deepika. He has always admired Deepika and was seen complimenting her style statements.

Shine Shetty's journey inside the Bigg Boss house is worth a mention. From showcasing his talents to giving his best shot in the tasks and activities, the actor was always on the forefront.

Bigg Boss Kannada 7 kick-started on October 13th 2019 with Kiccha Sudeepa continued to host the show. The show, which returned to the small screen with 'only-celeb' format consisted of 18 primary contestants, who entered the house during the grand premiere of the season.

Within a short span, two wild card entrants made a surprise entry into the house. The show was surely a roller coaster ride with unexpected twists and entertained the viewers to the fullest.

Bengaluru, Mar 31: Bengaluru Central Crime Branch on Tuesday seized as many as 1,000 fake N95 masks amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the police are yet to make arrests in the case.

Investigation in the case is underway and more details in this regard are awaited.

Recently, Noida Sub-Divisional Magistrate with a team from the Health department busted a fake sanitiser and mask factory.

Notably, the Central government recently had brought masks and hand sanitisers under the Essential Commodities Act up to June 30 as the novel coronavirus pandemic led to shortages and black marketing of these items.

Any person found guilty under the Act may be punished with imprisonment up to seven years or fine or both and can be detained for a maximum of six months.

Udupi, Apr 21:  Four walk-in sample collection units for COVID-19 test has been installed in the district, sources said on Monday.

The units have been installed at Udupi’s T M A Pai Hospital and district hospital and at Kundapura and Karkala taluk hospitals by Indian Medical Association, Udupi Branch along with Rotary Club and Red Cross Society.

Udupi district was declared COVID-19-free after all three COVID-19 positive patients were discharged after recovery and were now in home quarantine, the sources added.
