Mangalore, September 11: Three persons from undivided Dakshina Kannada have been taken into custody by Bangalore CCB police team.

Those taken into custody are Umanath Shetty and Shridhar from Udupi and Chandrashekhar from Mangalore.

Shridhar was arrested three days ago and following inputs from him and with cooperation of Hebri police, Umanath too was arrested. Although the two have criminal record, the same is not true with Chandrashekhar who works as a driver, it is learnt.

Umanath is a relative of an underworld don Koraga Vishwanath Shetty and Shridhar is his associate. The police also wanted to arrest a certain Alwyn Pinto, a onetime rowdy, who happens to be associated with Chandrashekhar.

In 2008, underworld criminals Nikhil Shetty and Manish Shetty had entrusted the job of finishing off Vamanjoor Rohi to Umanath Shetty via Alwyn Pinto and handed over a revolver to him. But Umanath used this revolver to threaten one Balakrishna Vaidya with whom he had some differences. A case concerning this was registered in Hebri. This is being cited as the core reason behind the latest arrests.
