KDKUEA to observe Engineers' Day on birth anniversary of Vishvesharaya

Mangalore, September 12: To mark the birth anniversary of Sir. M. Vishvesharaya, 'Engineers' Day' will be observed by Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Engineers' Association (KDKUEA) along with Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya next Saturday, September 15, said B.S. Balakrishna, President of KDKUEA.

 

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that the celebration programme will be held on Saturday at 5.30 pm at Vishwa Shanthi Mandir, near Ganapathi Temple at Urwa Stores, Mangalore.

 

Dr. A.U. Ravishankar, Head of Civil Engineering Department, NIT-K, Suratkal, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Basavaraj Rajarushi, Chairperson of Brahmakumaris Sports Wing, Mount Abu, and Sourabha, Centre-in-charge of Brahmakumaris, Manipal, will be the chief guests, he said.

 

He said that the Engineers' Day Honour 2012 will be conferred to C.V. Kamath, Consulting Engineer, Mangalore.

 

As part of the celebration, technical quiz for engineering college students will be held on Thursday at St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamajoor, said Mr. Balakrishna.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty has sent the second consignment of N95 Masks, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Sanitisers worth about Rs 73 lakhs, City police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha said on Sunday.

"These will be primarily used by Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics of Wenlock Hospital here and masks by the frontline staff of ASHA and police at risk of exposure to the virus,” Dr Harsha tweeted on Sunday.

The district has received the first consignment with critical medical equipment worth Rs 28 lakh from the Infosys foundation on Saturday, March 28.

Bengaluru, Feb 26: Karnataka Minister CT Ravi on Wednesday said that time is ripe to bring in Uniform Civil Code in the country as there was a demand for "equality".

"Everyone talks about equality. Those who desired inequality in the past are now seeking equality. The time is ripe to bring Uniform Civil Code," he said.

The Minister said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been a part of the party's agenda since the time when BJP was formed in 1980.

"We spoke about article 370, we have done it, on Ayodhya issue, the Supreme Court has given its verdict. As the time comes we will do it," he said.

Kalaburagi, Feb 24: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday alleged that dissatisfaction and unhappiness are rising among the local Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs and the party might soon witness large scale defection.

Addressing the media, Mr. Siddaramaiah said many of the BJP MLAs have openly expressed their disappointment and unhappiness with the BJPs high command and also with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's attitude towards them and they have said that they want to join the Congress at the earliest.
