Bangalore, September 13: A local court today extended till September 27 the police custody of journalist Muthi-ur-Rahman Siddiqui and 10 other youths, who were arrested on 'terror charges' last month.
City Crime Branch sleuths arrested 11 educated Muslim youths, five from Hubli and six in the city on August 29 in a major operation. Three more were arrested in as many days subsequently.
Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate G Nanjundaiah extended their police custody when they were produced before the court.
According to police the arrested were planning to target MPs, MLAs and media persons. Police also said that a foreign-made 7.65 mm pistol, seven rounds of ammunition and other gadgets had been seized from the arrested persons.
However, following a week-long interrogation, Bangalore Police Commissioner Jyoti Prakash Mirji had also stated that the arrested were extremely pious and brilliant.
