Medical college in Kasargod: preliminary work on

Kasargod, September 19: Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said that the preliminary work on the proposed medical college in Badiyadukka village, which is grappling with health hazards owing to prolonged exposure to endosulfan, is progressing and the construction work will begin once the land acquisition process is completed.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, the Minister said the Health Department was in receipt of the master plan prepared by KITCO and the preliminary work for setting up the college at Ukkinadukka was progressing well.

Mr. Sivakumar was here to assess the grievances of the endosulfan victims ahead of the giving final shape to the assured relief and rehabilitation package as recommended by the National Human Rights Commission.

The project report, prepared after carrying out surveys, was recently handed over to the Health Minister by P.G.R. Pillai, Special Officer for the proposed medical college.

The Minister had forwarded the report to the Chief Minister for approval.

Bengaluru, Mar 2: BJP leader and Karnataka cabinet minister BS Sriramulu's daughter Rakshita's wedding will take place with Sanjeev Reddy here on March 5. The nine-day function will cost crores of rupees.

For the wedding, decorations and arrangements are being done at Sriramulu's home here.

The reception will take place in Bengaluru Palace Ground on March 5.

"I couldn't invite you all in person but I tried to welcome you all. Through the media, I am again inviting you all. We are not performing a pretentious wedding. I invite you all on March 5 at Palace Ground," Sriramulu said.

After BJP leader Janardhan Reddy's daughter's marriage in Bengaluru Palace Ground, the marriage of Sriramulu's daughter is being considered one of the costliest marriages in Karnataka's history.

Bengaluru, July 25:  Karnataka reported 5,072 new COVID-19 positive cases and 72 deaths on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 90,942.

The total count includes 55,388 active cases and 1,796 deaths, the state health department said.

Meanwhile, a 100-year-old woman resident of Huvina Hadagali town in Bellary district here recovered from COVID-19 after testing positive for the virus earlier this month.

"Doctors treated me well. Along with regular food, I was eating an apple a day. The doctors are giving me tablets and injection, and I am healthy now. COVID-19 is like a common cold," said Hallamma while speaking to news agency.

The woman's son, daughter-in-law, and grandson had also tested positive for the virus, and the family was treated at their home.

India reported a spike of 48,916 coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking the total number of reported COVID-19 cases to 13,36,861, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total count include 4,56,071 active cases, 8,49,431 cured/discharged/migrated. With 757 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 31,358.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: An elderly woman who was tested positive for coronavirus, breathed her last at the designated covid hospital in the city today.

The deceased was a 60-year-old resident of Ullal.

According to sources, the woman, was getting treated for ailments related to liver and heart.
