September 25, 2012

Mangalore, September 25: Real-life Spiderman Jyothi Raj alias Koti Rama's monkey adventures left police in a tizzy and the crowd stupefied at PVS Kalakunj Road in the city on Tuesday.

The Chitradurga based monkey man on his way to Udupi on invitation of ``huli veshadhari'' Ashok Kadabettu to perform acrobatics at Udupi Nehru Maidan on Tuesday -took a pit stop at Mangalore. His attempt to climb the PVS Building here did not materialize as the building authorities denied permission.

Raj then landed at the Shalini Enclave on PVS Kalakunj Road and much to the surprise of residents he started climbing the 10-storey building with ease.

The police who came after he got down from the building said they would have taken him into custody as Raj had not taken their permission to perform the stunt. ``In the event of some mishap we would have booked a person from Barke who had announced he would take responsibility,'' said Assistant SI Nagesh from Barke police station.

The surprised crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Raj said he had lost flexibility after he fractured his leg in an accident recently. He said he was ready to take up challenges and 18 storey building climb at Mysore was the tallest building he had conquered.
