Over 5000 youth to converge for Catholic Yuvajanotsav-2012

Mangalore, September 26: 'Yuvajanotsav 2012', the eighth Karnataka Regional Catholic Youth Convention, organised by the Youth Commission of Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops' Council, will be held in Belthangady for a period of three days from Friday, September 28.

 

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, Bishop of Bellary Henry D'Souza said that the three-day convention, hosted by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Belthangady Diocese, was aimed at transforming the youth into leaders and promoting peace.

 

Around 1,500 youth leaders from 750 parishes around the state will partake in the two-day leadership programme where sessions will be held on various topics such as Identity of Youth, Socio-cultural context, Youth problems and challenges etc., he said.

 

He said that the convention, themed 'Transformed by Faith, Transforming the World', will be inaugurated by Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel on the first day at 11.30 am, in the presence of Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Belthangady Lawrence Mukkuzhy and Bishop of Puttur G Mar Divannasios.

 

On September 30, there will be a peace march wherein over 5,000 youth from Mangalore, Belthangady and Puttur are expected to participate. It will be flagged off by Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs Vincent Pala, which will be followed by a stage programme, he said.

 

During the convention, five young achievers will be awarded Karnataka Yuva Catholic Ratna Awards. The awardees are Roshan Ferrao from Mangalore, Sabita Monis from Moodbidri, Cajetan Dias and Jose Jacob from Bangalore, and DB Tech, a training programme for rural unemployed youth, he said.

 

Fr Ronald D'Souza, President of ICYM Belthangady Nelson Monis, Secretary of ICYM Sheldon Crasta and Roy Castelino were present at the press meet.

Mangaluru, July 13: With the confirmation of four more deaths related to novel coronavirus, the covid-19 death toll in Dakshina Kannada has mounted to 50.

In fact, the four fatalities had occurred on Saturday. Today the authorities concerned that they were tested positive for Covid-19.

The deceased include two septuagenarians, a sexagenarian, and a 53-year-old. All of them were male.

Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh revealed that their comorbidities were diabetes in ICU, pneumonia in ICU, hepatitis in ICU, severe acute  respiratory infection and carcinoma of the lung respectively.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Muzrai Department of Karnataka on Tuesday issued a circular requesting all temples in the state to perform special puja on Wednesday following the 'bhoomi pujan' for Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The circular was issued on the directions of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Commissioner's Office, Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department Karnataka said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5.

The construction of Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya after the foundation ceremony in which various dignitaries from political and religious fields are scheduled to participate.

The apex court, on November 9 last year, had directed the Central government to hand over the site at Ayodhya for the construction of a Ram temple.

The formation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust was announced on February 5 for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. The Trust has been mandated by the Central government to oversee the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Mangaluru, Feb 10: Life of a 40–year-old man, who suffered a massive cardiac arrest, was saved by an ambulance driver who covered 80-km distance between Dharmasthala and Mangaluru in just 40 minutes.

The patient, a Chikkaballapur native sustained a heart attack near Sakleshpur on Saturday while he was on his way to Dharmasthala. He was provided preliminary treatment at a private hospital in Ujire, where doctors advised his relatives to shift him to a hospital in Mangaluru immediately.

The patient’s condition was critical and the odds were completely against him. Moreover owing to the ongoing double lane project work, the road too had been dugout. Despite all this, ambulance driver Hameed drove at a fast pace and managed to take the patient to the hospital within 40 minutes.
