Kasargod, September 27: At least 35 persons were injured, many of them critically, in a serial accident involving a fish-laden truck, private bus and an autorickshaw at Chalingal, near Periye, here on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. when the rear portion of the truck hit the private bus that was on its way back from Kasaragod carrying the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) workers who were returning after a march to the district collectorate here.
The bus driver, Ranjith, sustained serious head injuries and is being treated at a hospital in Mangalore while the others have been admitted to various hospitals.
The truck, after hitting the bus, dashed against an autorickshaw that was behind the bus. All three vehicles damaged.
