Copies of JK Rowling's 'Casual Vacancy' printed in Manipal too

rowlingMangalore, September 30: Manipal Technologies Ltd is the print solutions partner to Hachette India for the latest J K Rowling release.

 

 

In the biggest global book publishing event of 2012, J K Rowling authored, “The Casual Vacancy” was simultaneously released globally on September 27. The book which has seen unprecedented levels of secrecy in printing and distribution has seen more than a million copies pre-ordered.

 

The global publishers of the book have handpicked only three printers globally for this release and Manipal Technologies Ltd is proud to be partnering Hachette India for the first high-security book printing in India. This is the first time any title by J K Rowling (author of the legendary Harry Potter series) has been printed in Asia.

 

Speaking on the occasion of the book release, Mr. Thomas Abraham, Managing Director of Hachette India said, “We're delighted and proud to do the first high security print job in the country. Bengaluru, May 1: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on the occasion of International Labour Day has appealed to migrant workers in the state to stay back and co-operate with it in resuming economic activities once the Central government issues further directions.

"It is my sincere request to all the migrant workers to stay back in the state and co-operate with us to resume the economic activities once we receive directions from Union Government," Yediyurappa said in a release issued by the CMO.

"COVID-19 situation in India is much better than other countries because of people's cooperation.

We intend to resume economic activities soon. The government has already held a meeting with representatives of associations of commerce and industry in this regard. The government has also appealed to the employers to protect the interest of their workers and pay salaries," he added.

The ongoing nationwide lockdown, imposed to contain the coronavirus spread, is scheduled to end on May 3.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: District administration in Kalaburagi, where the first death in India due to COVID-19 was reported, has identified over 25 people, who come close to the deceased and quarantined for observation, Minister for Health B Sreeramulu said on Friday.

In reply to a debate on the issue during Zero Hour of the Legislative Assembly, the Health Minister said that two members of the victim’s family and 23 others are suspected of COVID-19.

Mr. Sreeramulu said all the schools of the district have been as a preventive measure to contain the deadly virus.

Mangaluru, Jul 1: Sudarshan Moodbidri, president of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party escaped unhurt after the car in which he was travelling met with an accident today on the outskirts of the city. 

The car’s front portion was completely damaged in the accident. It is not yet known who was driving the car. Sources said that Sudarshan did not suffer any injury. 

The mishap occurred when the driver lost control while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian at Mijar near Moodbidri. The car collided with an oncoming vehicle before it veered off the road and entered the roadside sludge.

Sleuths from Moodbidri station police visited the spot as part of investigation.
