Vijaynath Shetty elected founder president of Bajpe Regional Bunts Sangha

Vijaynath_ShettyMangalore, October 2: Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Chief Co-ordinator of Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple has been unanimously elected as the founder president of the newly formed Bajpe Valaya Bunts Sangha.

This Sangha is meant to cover about 20 villages nearby of the nearby region.

The election took place during the preliminary meeting of community leaders held at Bajpe Bunts Popular School Auditorium on Sunday, September 30, 2012 to discuss regarding the formation of the new body.

Mr. Shetty is the managing director of Vijaynath Interiors & Exteriors Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai based industrial roofing company having offices in Pune, Nashik, Kholapur and Mangalore.

Under the auspices of Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, Mangalore, he has organized many rural events including Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Kreedotsava Village Games Fest, Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Halli Cricket Tournament, Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Halli Kabaddi Tournament and Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Cross Country Marathon over the last two years. He has also hosted activities like Summer Camp for Village Children, Free Eye Camp etc for the benefit of the rural folk.

Addressing the gathering, Ajith Kumar Malady, President of Federation Bunts Sanghas, said efforts should be put to identify economically, educationally and socially backward people in the community and enable them to join the mainstream of society.

Rajesh Naik Ullepadyguthu presided over the function. Zilla Panchayath Member Rithesh Shetty, Bunts Popular School Founder President Malavoor Jagadish Shetty, Shankar Shetty, Babu Shetty were present on the occasion. Gopinath Hegde delivered the keynote address. R. N. Shetty proposed the Vote of Thanks. Ajith Shetty compeered the meeting.

Tumakuru, Jan 4: Three people were burnt alive and four others sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a four-wheeler (Omni van) and a private bus on NH-206 near Doddaguni in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said that Narasamma’s relatives and villagers were taking her to a hospital in Nittur when a private bus, heading to Shivamogga from Bengaluru, collided with the van on the tank bund road near Doddguni around 0200 hrs. The two vehicles caught fire and Vasanthkumar, Ramaiah and Narasamma were burnt alive in the van. The passengers in the private bus escaped unhurt.

The deceased were identified as Vasanthkumar (23), Ramaiah (62) and Narsamma (60) of N Hosahalli in Gubbi taluk, whereas the injured were identified as Ravikumar (23), Radhamani (30), Narasimha Murthy (40) and Gowramma (28).

Udupi, Jun 20: Movement of heavy vehicles on Agumbe Ghat section was banned till October 15, following heavy rain lashing due to onset of South West Monsoon.

The Agumbe Ghat connects Shivamogga with the Udupi district. There is a possibility of landslides on either side of the Ghat road if movement of heavy vehicles is allowed during the monsoon, said Udupi DC G Jagadeesh in statement issued here on Saturday.

The movement of all heavy vehicles above 12 tonnes has been banned on the road. Till end of monsoon all the heavy vehicles have to move via Udupi-Brahmavar-Barkur-Shankaranarayana; Siddapura-Hosangady-Hulikal Ghat-Hosanagara-Theerthahalli; Udupi-Karkala-Bajagoli-S K Border-Kerekatte-Sringeri- Shivamogga.

Bengaluru, Mar 9: The first case of Nov Corona patient was found in Karnataka with a 40 year-old Software Engineer, who returned from US, developing fever today at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in the City. This is the first case reported in the State.

Disclosing this to newsmen, Karnataka Minister for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar said that the techie, his wife and their one child arrived from US on Feb 28 and were under observation.

He said that there were no indication or any symptoms immediately after their arrival and also for the first four days, but on March 5 the Techie developed fever and today (Monday) it was confirmed that he is suffering from the killer disease.
