TRF launches month-long cleanliness drive

Mangalore, October 2: City based Talent Research Foundation on Tuesday launched a month-long cleanliness campaign across Dakshina Kannada.

 

Mangalore Qazi Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar flagged off the campaign in front of Zeenath Baksh Masjid at Bunder in the city at 8 a.m.

 

Lauding TRF for its sanitation drive in the district Musliyar said that it was the duty of every human being to keep the surroundings clean.

 

“Cleanliness is part of faith in Islam and hence Muslims have a greater responsibility to maintain cleanliness”, he said.

 

He said that unclean environment leads to various problems including spread of diseases.

 

TRF advisor Mohammed Rafeeq Master said that the Foundation has decided to observe cleanliness month throughout October as part of its efforts to create awareness about sanitation among the people.

 

He said that as part of the campaign which would conclude on October 31, surroundings of places of worship, educational institutions and hospitals would be cleaned.

 

Abdul Khader Kukkila, president of Nazath peace and relief society, Sadakathulla Faizi, dharmahuru of Jumma Masjid, Majeed, member of Muslim central committee, Suleiman Belvai among others were present.

Mangaluru, July 10: Dakshina Kannada, which has emerged as one of the hotspots of covid-19 in Karnataka, has recorded at least six novel coronavirus related deaths in past 24 hours. 

According to sources, four people lost their battle with the novel coronavirus in Wenlock, the designated covid hospital. 

A 35-year-old man from Hosabettu, who was tested positive for COVID-19 recently, died at the Wenlock COVID hospital in the morning.

A 58-year-old woman from Thokkottu, a 67-year-old man from Ullal and a 65-year-old man from Falnir also passed away in the same hospital. 

Two other covid patients passed away in private hospitals. 

With this, the total number of death of covid patients in the district rose to 36.

Mangaluru, May 15: In a shocking development, five residents of Udupi district, who recently came from United Arab Emirates today tested positive for covid-19.

As many as 49 passengers among over 175 repatriates who were brought from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 were from Udupi district.

Hence they were quarantined in Udupi district and their throat swabs were sent for testing on the same day. Today, five of them obtained positive report. They were today shifted to TMA Pai covid-hospital from their hotel rooms.

Mangaluru, Jun 8: Forum Fiza Mall in Mangaluru on Monday reopened for public after Ministry of Home Affairs allowed the reopening of shopping malls from June 8 with certain precautionary measures amid COVID-19 pandemic.

People visited the mall wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had said that religious places and places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services along with shopping malls will be permitted to open from June 8.

However, these facilities will not be able to resume operations inside containment zones designated by authorities in states, said a government notification.
