
Mysore, October 12: Udupi district Brahmavara's Little Rock India School students Abshik Rao and Swastik Udupa bagged the first place at the State-level IT?quiz organised jointly by Public Education department and Tata Consultancy Services, here on Thursday at the Mahajana's Vivekananda auditorium.
International quiz master Giri conducted quiz and the winners garnered 45 points. Udupi's St Mary's English Medium school students Sandeep Rao and Kaushik Kalmada with 20 points bagged the second place.
Earlier, in the divisional-level rounds the second placed St Mary's English Medium school with 45 points had stood first while the eventual winners Little Rock India School had stood second with 20 points.
In the competition nearly 450 students both boys and girls from Chamarajanagar, Mysore, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Mandya, Ramanagar districts had participated.
Public Education department deputy director B K?Basavara who inaugurated the programme said, “In the rural areas the understanding about the science is spreading. When we were studying we did not know anything about information technology.”
Addressing Kannadiga delegates from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and other countries through a video conference, Dr Narayan also assured that necessary steps will be taken by the Karnataka government to provide free quarantine facility for those who cannot afford private quarantine in hotels or guest houses.
