Four Class 8 girls go missing in city under mysterious circumstances

Mangalore, October 12: Four girl students of Capitanio High School in the city have reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances on Friday.

The missing girls have been identified as Lavanya, Dhanyasree, Ruthika and Pratiksha -all Class 8 students and close friends. Three among them are residents of Kodakkal near Kannur while another girl is from Kollurugudde.

Though the girls attended all the classes on Friday, they did not return home. The helpless parents, after inquiring about their daughters with their friends, informed the police.

It is learnt that they were poor in studies. While some of their classmates have expressed hope that they may come back others feared that some miscreants may have kidnapped them.

The incident crated a tense atmosphere in the city for some time as a crowd gathered in the school premises in the night.


Police have launched a search operation for the missing girls with the help of their parents.

Udupi, Mar 6: District Health Officer Sudheer Chandra said that health department had compiled a list of foreigners visiting the Temple town Udupi and ensure that they are not infected with Coronavirus.

Addressing media persons at District Government Hospital in Ajjarkad on Friday, he said the Isolation Unit set up with five beds to treat the new Coronavirus infection includes two beds with Ventilator facility. Isolation wards with three beds were set up in Kundapur and Karkala taluks to treat the affected.

In order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Committees were formed at District and Taluk level, he added.

Mysuru, Feb 29: Tension prevailed at Tandavaput Industrial Area in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru when a paper factory received a bomb threat call, which later turned out to be a hoax call.

The police said that the authorities of Rajshil Papers received a bomb threat call in the morning. After getting the information, the bomb detection squad rushed to the spot and inspected the factory premises and declared that it was a hoax call.

According to the police, an unidentified person called from his mobile, which is now switched off.

Bengaluru, Jul 6: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday said that the "country will have to learn to live with coronavirus as there are no options".

Yediyurappa made the remark after paying tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram, on his death anniversary, at a ceremony in Vidhana Soudha.

"We don't have any other option, we have to learn to live with this virus. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the same thing. We have increased ambulances, we have made all arrangements to fight the pandemic. It is very important to safeguard ourselves," he said.

The Chief Minister added that the state government has made many arrangements to combat the widespread illness.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there is 23,474 number of COVID-19 cases in the state and 372 people have died due to the illness.
