Mangalore, October 13: A young railway gangman from Bihar died after he was knocked down by a train near Kalnad bridge near Bekal on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred at 8.30 a.m. as Surendra Kumar 24, son of Vasudev Prasad, a native of Dhana in Bihar's Nawada district, was knocked down from the bridge as two trains approached the bridge on the parallel lines.
Surendra Kumar was attached to the Kottikulam railway station and the accident occurred when he was inspecting the track.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital, police said.
