Bhatkal, October 17: An incident of an attempted assault on Moulana Khwaja Muhiddin Akrami Madani Nadvi, Qazi of Markazi Khalifa Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen, Bhatkal, has been reported.

Other cases were also booked against him in the past and he is a man with criminal background, it is learnt. Since the Qazi had given witness against him in one of those cases, he took this step but was caught by locals and handed over to the police. As the news spread, people gathered at the police station and urged that strictest of actions be taken against him.

When contacted, the Moulana said that he was outside his house in Salmanabad area at about 10pm when Armaar arrived at the spot riding a bike. “He came right to the gate of my house and started abusing me stating that I had given witness against him in a case in the Karwar court and came forward to assault me. Although I kept telling him that I had not given any false witness against him, he kept holding and abusing me. Sensing the situation getting tense, the locals there gathered and started assaulting him. The police who then arrived at the spot took him along to the station”, he said.

When locals gathered at the station demanding action against Armaar, senior police officer Sudhir Kumar Reddy and others pacified the agiatating crowd and assured apt action.

SM Syed Parvez, Vice President, Majlis-e-Islaah-o-Tanzeem, Muhiddin Althaf Kharoori, Chief Secretary of Tanzeem, Mira Siddiqa, Abdul Raqib MJ, Muhammad Sadiq Matta, Imtiyaz Udyavar, Irshad Gawai, Sanaullah Gawai, and other citizens of Bhatkal also visited the police station and urged police to take action against him.
