Udupi, October 24: A hotelier allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday near here.
The deceased, K Sathish Rao (42), managing director of Shri Ramakrishna Hotel, is survived by his wife Shobha and two sons - Dhanush and Deekshith. Their house is located at Ashwatakatte, Nejar near Santhekatte in Udupi.
According to his son and a servant who were present at the house during the incident, Rao had woken up at around 5 a.m., gone for a morning walk and had slept again after returning.
However, at around 7 a.m. Rao was found hanging by his son when he entered the room. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he breathed his last.
It is learnt that Rao had asked his wife Shobha, who had been to her parental house, to stay there for few more days.
A case has been registered at the Malpe police station based on a complaint lodged by Suresh Rao, brother of the deceased.
Police are probing to find out what led the hotelier to take the extreme step.
