Udupi, October 25: Oscar Fernandes, AICC General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member, on Tuesday said that the Congress workers should be ready for the next Assembly elections in the State. He was speaking at a party workers meeting at the Congress Bhavan here.
According to a press release here on Wednesday, Mr. Fernandes said that the next Assembly elections or the elections to the urban local bodies were likely to be held soon. The party workers should be ready to face them. This also meant the party workers reached the voters at the booth-level. The Election Commission had started the process of enrolling the voters and drawing up the voter list. Party workers should check if any voter's name was missing in the list. It was essential for the party workers to enrol such voters at all booths.
AICC president Sonia Gandhi had, during her recent visit to Mangalore, directed all party leaders to sink their differences and work in a united manner, Mr. Fernandes said.
