The victims are city based builder and community activist Sayyed Muhammad (62), his brother Abdul Khader (50) and their nephew Riyan (13).

Eye witnesses said that Riyan was washed away by a strong current while playing in the water. The boy's two uncles jumped into the sea to rescue him. However the duo lost their balance and swept away by a high tide.

Witnessing this tragedy a group of local fishermen immediately ventured into the sea and managed to rescue the two brothers, and admitted them to a nearby hospital, where they breathed their last after sometime.

A Koteshwar based businessman M K Arif, who had also been washed away by heavy tides along with the brothers, while trying to rescue the same boy, is recovering at a hospital. The boy's body was later fished out by the locals.
